Here's the first episode on iPlayer. What do you reckon? Better than the 90s version?

I caught it earlier today after it aired on the CBBC channel. I enjoyed it. Still prefer the 90s version though just because I enjoyed the more random humour.

What I don't understand in the new series is why they've changed Walter's friends. I believe the blond kid is still Bertie but who is the new guy? I know I've read his name somewhere and the name Percival is popping up but I think that's wrong. Where did he come from?

Pieface's voice threw me off a bit. I wasn't expecting him to sound so young. I certainly prefer his old voice.

For all the episodes broadcast so far, click here.

I've watched a few episodes now and the thing I like the most is the voices. They've all got Northern accents now! It's absolutely fantastic! So the characters gain a lot of character when they open their mouths and it adds to their personalities.

I too prefer the 90s version simply because the episodes were longer so they had longer storylines. In the 00s version (only 10 minutes long), the plot and humour is relatively more simple and seems to be based around Dennis and Walter annoying each other in a variety of imaginative ways. The good thing about this is that the latest series has the feel of the weekly comic strip as a result, which shows that the makers of the show clearly understand and appreciate the source material.

The new series seems a lot more 'real' really - you can believe they're real characters - they've got more personality than they ever had.

Pie-face's voice DID throw me, but as far as I can gather he's now the youngest of the group. It's nice to see the characters have a sort of social class. Curly seems to be the older, more cautious one, for instance.

We don't really have any TV shows about average kids and childhood rivalry - something this series fixes perfectly.

And the frame count is brilliant, gives a really sleek, smooth look to the series. Very well done.
