I was in my local bookshop the other day and I was looking at the annuals. The Beano seems to be a sellout, in fact, they'd just got in some replacement stock. The Dandy, however, still had a full stock. They literally hadn't sold ONE since the annuals were released. The Beano: The story so far has sold all but one copy (Which I've got reserved now ) Dennis the Menace and Gnasher has sold all but three copies, and the Bash street kids, oddly, wasn't even there. Which is a shame because it appears to be a Mike Pearse extravaganza. The Broons and Oor Wullie: Happy days has sold all but six copies and Oor Wullie himself has four copies left (Most likely because they're only really well known in Scotland). Overall, sales seem good. Except for the Dandy. How're things going at your local bookshops annual wise?

Whenever I go, there seems to be huuge piles! I was the first person at my local Smiths to buy the Dandy annual, as it was the only one in stock. I was looking round yesterday, the highest piles seemed to be girls and Ben 10 (get told!! ). The Beano and Dandy next, but some on the floor under the table as well. The most sold were stuff like Match, Everton FC and ((ugh)) Liverp**l FC.
The closest place to find a BSK book near me is Borders in Ellesmere Port, around 10 miles away!! I had a look through, and, although I think they're all reprints (not sure about Space Cadets), they're mostly good. Some artwork looks odd as they've taken some really early ones, even though they feature all the Beano stars, and some recent ones (e.g. Pop Idiots in 2004)

The chances are Smiths just decided not to order as many XD Some of my local places have stopped ordering the Dandy on the whole, because it takes up shelf space which is never properly cleared. Near no Girls annuals are being sold this year, and TV/Movie tie ins aren't doing well either...Football is just stupid. There's no point in buying it. :/
It's all reprints, you can trust me on that one. Mike Pearse is easily one of the best artists ever brought in for the Beano in my opinion. His style clearly takes a LOT from Mr. Albert Uderzo. Not only that, but he gave the Kids more personality and gave more action scenes.

Think you can still buy them at the supermarket. Or not. Haven't actually checked. But WH Smith will definately have some. And there's always the Internet.

The way things are going now there might not actually be a Woolies to get them from.

It'd be cheaper to buy the shop! (According to the Metro each shop now costs just more than 1p!!)

Yeah, I heard you could buy the entire business for £1. But you end up with millions of pounds of debt.

Or you can create your own gameshow called " Credit CRUNCH!", where the objective of the game is for each contestant to convert their local Woolworth's into rubble as fast as possible using various powertools and vehicles with the word "Recession!" painted on the side! How's that for satire? " BRING ON THE CRUNCH!" CRASH!I think I need to calm down in a dark room for a few minutes.

No, we don't want to dumb down this innovative concept, do we? Otherwise, we'll end up with Z-list celebrities taking part like Vanessa Feltz, who'd probably be able to knock down the entire store by just running into the wall.
