And that the same 300 people will always vote for their favourite every week. The Problem with Internet Polls By Paws Although I don't know exactly how many people read The Beano each week, believe me, 300 is not a good sample size. It's at least less than 1% of total readership. It is a well known fact that if you're planning a survey or poll, the smaller the sample size you choose, the less accurate your results will be. Larger sample sizes will be more accurate but can be more difficult to obtain. They're definitely not going to bother wasting precious time, money and resources asking every single reader his/her preferences, are they? You see, it's much easier to set up a poll on the official website and let the visitors vote themselves. That way, they can concentrate on getting the next issue out instead and collect the results next week. However, if, say, only one person bothered to vote, the results would say that 100% liked Derek the Sheep. Does that mean 100% of Beano readers like Derek the Sheep? Sadly, no, it means that 100% of people who bothered to vote liked Derek the Sheep, you clot! You see the problem now? In conclusion, there are lies, darn lies and statistics. Stop fussing about that silly little poll of 62 votes. Thank you for reading. [/essay]

Let's have a vote; who thinks Paws is right about polls? Hahahahaha. You can't beat a good statistician gag!

that the artists are voting for their own stories. obviously. That, of course, never happens ... *whistles to oneself*...

Of course not. An upstanding sheep such as yourself with a band of followers such as ourselves wouldn't need to slink so low.

Great news! The Beano Ed rang me up out of the blue this afternoon to apologise for switching the Aussie story to the weekly (apparently there's another Aussie story in the Annual already!).
So now I've got to come up with a new four pager! Hooray! He seemed very pleased with my story idea about us lot hunting for dinosaurs ...

Consider it done! I had planned it for the weekly and I'm introducing a new character in it too, but now you won't see him for a whole year!!

So who's doing the Aussie story then? Let me guess, it's Ball Boy, isn't it?
