All those who've seen the latest BeanoMax will have read 'Max', a brand new strip by the resident digital artist...
It's TERRIBLE.
The artwork is copy and pasted repeatedly, VERY BADLY. The jokes...well. There aren't any jokes. And the entire concept is basically Bad Max from the Dandy but without Steve Bright and with a copy and pasted orangutan. I don't know if it's the Beano's attempt to go Cool or teenage style, but it failed. Several times over.
It appears the quality control button has disappeared.
If anyone else read the strip and found any sort of quality in there, please fill me in on it. Because I just can't see any.
I just hope it's not permanent.

It's a permanent strip... A while back I mentioned about it after comin back from Dundee (woo!!). Euan Kerr, editor, showed me a few pictures (cgi) of what he might look like. One was ginger, similar to the monkey, but they were all with a monkey/orange-tan, and all called MAX. What's witht the shirt anyway? OVERDRIVE!? What about something that people will look at, eye catching...maybe a red and black jumper?

I honestly think it's one of the worst strips the Beano's printed in years... Come back, reprints, all is forgiven.

Oh dear, not seen it myself... Is it a bit like those football strips from The Sun? Not a fan of CGI as a comicstrip form personally.

Cheers! Maybe you should take it down on second thoughts due to copyright. Maybe your favourite panel instead?

I'm supposed to like a panel? O.o
I'll just remove the post now you've seen it, Derek.

Even my friends agree the C+P on the comic strip is overdone. It's overbearing and painfully obvious.

If we had an "ohnoes" emote on here like on deviantART I'd be using it now. I saw Mooney's scans and it made my eyes want to bleed. I'm just glad they have the BeanoMAX to pat up in rather than the actual Beano.

This month's even has a whole movement copy and pasted NEXT TO the last one, only with his mouth everso slighty open.

I didn't get to see the strip. From what I have read from the above posts, it seems I did not miss much. In fact, I am probably fortunate to not have been contaminated by such amateurish bilge. Well, it's not like anyone reads BeanoMax anyway... Mooney, perhaps now is the time to propose a contract with D.C. Thompson before it is too late. Or more accurately, before it is even more too late. Is that even possible? To be more late than being late? Isn't that like going to infinity and beyond? Something that's theoretically impossible to do, yet you still go ahead and try to do it anyway and you somehow succeed even though you never actually get there? I like fish.

Actually, from what I gather, from all the new launches and relaunches etc. the BeanoMax has been very successful!

It sells much more than the Dandy - around 20,000 more.
