Ooh, they actually made a fake meerkat dating website!
I've been impersonating that meerkat's accent ever since I saw that advert a few days ago. But what's that squeaky sound he makes at the end of it about?

...A meerkat call? You never know. I don't tend to see meerkats very often. Strangely scarce in West Yorkshire.

I think its supposed to be the sound a meercat makes.
I've not checked the link yet but my reaction at seeing the title was "They've not actually made that site have they?!"

It would seem so. This is a perfect example of one of the most effective marketing campaigns in the 21st Century. If a company wants to sell a product, they not only make a brilliant advert, but they then use the Internet to continue their campaign; word of mouth spreads, people talk about it on forums (like this one), people learn about the website's existence and the company eventually makes money from interested customers. It's win-win! The only advert I can think of that's been more successful than comparethemeerkat.com thus far is that one with the drumming gorilla. ("Eat Cadbury's Chocolate! It's as enjoyable to eat as it is to watch a gorilla drumming along to Genesis!")
Of course, there's one serious flaw with this Masterplan of theirs, which makes me immune to their intentions; cats don't like traveling in cars and aren't allowed to have driving licenses anyway. Ironically, I'm much more interested in purchasing a pet meerkat than before now...

I think comparethemarket should get Harry Hill to do their next ad campaign. It pretty much writes itself: "But which IS the best deal on car insurance?"

It seems that this ad campaign has been too effective! In case you didn't know, the point of the adverts is to sell car insurance, NOT meerkats! Meerkats 'not very good as pets'No idea why promote a certain character who appeared in Toy Story at the end though. I thought the BBC wasn't supposed to have product placements in their programmes! In other news, they've recently made a new comparethemeerkat.com advert and updated their website, so you might like to check it out if you haven't seen the latest one yet.

Some people just go too far sometimes, don't they? I'll have to check out the new ad though.
